Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) was created to meet the spiritual and educational needs of young children. CGS is built on the foundation of the Bible and the Liturgy. Our room is called an Atrium, a place of prayer and thoughtful presentations, where the children learn about Scripture passages, especially the parables and the life of Jesus. They also learn about the Mass, the articles of the Mass, the vestments of the priest, and the words of the priest and the congregation at Mass. As a team, the child and catechists explore the proclamation of the Scriptures, discuss and work with the materials, and pray. The Atrium is a place where God's love is made visible through the presentations and through the child who works with the materials, completes art work about the presentation, or sits in silent contemplation.
