The funeral luncheon is a wonderful service to family and friends grieving the loss of a loved one. It provides a beautiful, loving environment for sharing pictures and memories while enjoying a delicious meal with homemade desserts. When a family requests a luncheon after a funeral in the church at Incarnate Word, members of the Funeral Luncheon Committee volunteer to help host this event in one of two ways:
Multiple volunteers are needed for 2 hours or less on the day of the luncheon to help with setting up the room in the lower church, arranging the food on serving platters and placing on buffet table, greeting guests, refilling food and drinks, or cleaning up afterward.
Many volunteers are also needed to bake a dessert to be served at the luncheon. A dessert of your choice is prepared and dropped off at the parish office the day before the luncheon, or in the lower church hall on the morning of the luncheon.
Volunteers receive an email approximately one week prior to the funeral luncheon with specific information about serving and baking help needed. If you are available, then click on the sign-up form in the email. If you are not available, no problem, you will be on the list for each funeral luncheon and you are just asked to serve whenever it is convenient for your schedule.
